Have You Aligned Your Passions with Your Purpose?
How to Align Your Desires with Your Calling
We’re often told to follow our passions — but what if those passions do not align with our purpose in life?
How could this be?
Passion and purpose are two very different, albeit corresponding, ideas.
Our passion is often driven by the self, our desires and emotions, and instant gratification. These passions are subject to change over the course of our lives.
Our purpose, however, is an overarching principle that guides our life. These purposes are focused on long-term fulfillment and the impact it can make on those around us and the world at large.
Purposes are not as prone to change as our passions.
For instance, if your purpose is to help others, you may eventually change how you do things, but your end result will result in helping others.
How to Align Your Passions with Your Purpose
First and foremost, we must identify what truly excites us (our passions) as well as acknowledge what our broader life goals are (our purpose).
Until we do this, we won’t be able to move on to the next step of aligning our passions with our purpose.
