People seem to be trying to fit themselves into smaller and smaller niche boxes. The more abstract, the more against the grain, the more accepted you are, it seems.

People have abandoned making connections through similar interests, being neighbors, liking the same music, or other ways in which friendships tend to grow.

Instead, it now seems as if people are connecting through their own personal victimhood narratives.

Instead of seeking out help or engaging in deep introspection, people are banding together, affirming one another’s delusional beliefs, and calling out people who see this behavior as harmful as bigoted, misogynistic, racist, homophobic, transphobic — the list goes on and on.

The problem with these “buzzwords” being thrown out to attack people with opposing viewpoints, is that oftentimes, the accuser doesn’t even know how to define the word they’re using to attack the person with whom they disagree.

They fall in line and repeat what they think they’re supposed to say and believe — but why?

Craving Acceptance — But at What Cost?
