What’s the Point of Writing On Medium?

Is Medium the Best Place to Find an Audience?

Don’t expect an audience this happy on Medium.
A Happy Audience — Results not Typical

The short answer is — It depends.

I think if you write passive-aggressive articles about how much money you make and how other people can do the same, then you’re in the right place.

If I see one more article on how you too can make an extra 10 dollars a month by selling bits of your soul, or how to corner the market on trimming the toenails of badgers with an attitude problem, I’m going to lose it.

There are two main types of articles I see gaining traction on Medium that are NOT picked up by a publication (that would be option 3.)

Those that are a part of an agenda (doesn’t seem to matter which one), and those that are written for people with PhDs in nuclear physics.

Pandering to an Agenda

I’m just so sick of listening to it from both sides.

I just want to read an article about how glorious the sunrise was today.

I want to hear about how someone found a friggin unicorn in their backyard and rode it off into the sunset where they met a gnome that took them to a garden party where they drank fancy fairy cocktails and danced until dawn.
